Important and emotional victory for Sevilla FC’s rival in the Europa League. On matchday 29 of the Premier, West Ham won the three points in dispute at the London Olympic Stadium against Aston Villa by winning 2-1. Andriy Yarmolenko and Pablo Fornals scored for the Hammers in the second half, while the away goal was scored by Jacob Ramsey in the last minute of the game. The victory keeps West Ham in its fight to access the Champions League.
The man of the match was Andriy Yarmolenko. The Ukraine captain opened his team’s victory with a great goal that gave way to a tremendously emotional celebration, in memory of his country and which was reflected in the striker’s tears.
Striker Michail Antonio suffered a groin injury and had to be substituted in the 52nd minute for Yarmolenko. And football did justice to the Ukrainian. He turned it down in the area and with the outside put his team ahead on the scoreboard. He celebrated it with a mixture of joy and liberation, added to pain, for everything that his country is suffering.
With tears, he was supported by all his companions at the celebration. West Ham, who lost 1-0 at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, will host Sevilla FC next Thursday (9:00 pm) in the second leg of the Europa League round of 16.
