Yannick Tremblay: A Passionate Mountaineer Conquering Breathtaking Heights

A lover of hiking and climbing, Yannick Tremblay has been traveling for several years in several American states and Canadian provinces where he has reached breathtaking heights. The man added mountaineering among his strings to his bow.

“I started taking lessons last winter,” he says humbly.

And the Charlevoisien already has a famous expedition to his credit, that of Mount Whitney in the State of California.

“I did it by the mountaineering route, in fact there is no road. This is a side of the mountain where you have to find your way through the woods. Essentially, it’s route finding.

The adventure took place in three intense days. Over the course of two days, the Baie-Saint-Paulois climbed with a 40 lb backpack.

“After that, there is Scramblesit’s rock climbing, we still have room to hold on”, says the man.

In addition, the state of the mountain was particularly difficult. It was downright wintery conditions. Crampons and ice axes were necessary.

“It’s a really complete sport. To be a good mountaineer, you have to be good at hiking, ice climbing, rock climbing, you have to be good at orientation. The landscape at the top and surpassing oneself, that’s what makes me love mountaineering,” said Mr. Tremblay.

Moreover, everything started in his native region.

“I started with the Five Peaks Challenge in 2017 the first year and then I always aimed for bigger peaks,” he says.

The Baie-Saint-Paulois does not intend to stop there. Several other destinations await him. In early October, Yannick Tremblay heads for Morocco to reach the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. Yannick Tremblay dreams of sharing his passion one day.

“My ultimate goal one day would be to become a guide,” says the enthusiast.
