It is a man with many hats that Carole Delga, outgoing PS president of the Occitanie region, has decided to throw herself on her side for the next regional elections. Yannick Jauzion, 42, is first of all a celebrity in the world of the oval: he was the emblematic player of the Stade Toulousain and former center of the XV of France, before hanging up the crampons in 2013. He is also from peasant origin, his parents are Vens sheep farmers in the Tarn. He himself is a graduate of the INP (School of agricultural engineers in Purpan). Today, he presides over Les Jardins d’Occitanie, which was the leading producer of French ginseng and today develops a whole range of herbalism and food supplements.
Finally, he also has a foothold in the wine industry through his collaboration with the cooperative cellar of Labastide, with which he has developed a vat of red Gaillac, called Aligana (alliance in Occitan), for which he signs the label. Make no mistake, by committing to Carole Delga’s list, the former rugby player is not starting a political career. ” I am not aiming for any other warrant. I’m in as a member of civil society, I want to get involved in the general interest ” he assures.
“Not all producers are prepared for this change in their practices“
His profile and career already determine the two committees in which he will be involved if he is read: sport and agriculture. If the proposals of the Delga list in matters of agriculture and viticulture will only be announced in ten days, Yannick Jauzion has already some ideas on the question. “Viticulture is entering a decisive phase of transition for its future. Consumers are calling for increasingly reasoned agriculture, with increasingly reduced recourse to synthetic products. Not all producers are prepared for this change in their practices. They must be supported with advice, services … ”He emphasizes.
Yannick Jauzion is in third position on the list of the Tarn d’Occitanie in common, regionally carried by Carole Delga. A position eligible according to the outgoing president.
