Pitcher Darren O’Day’s season may have come to an end because of a strained thigh, according to New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone.
“I’d say his season is over, but we’ll have more information as we get it,” Boone said before the series close in the Bronx against the Boston Red Sox, according to the New York Post.
O’Day, who signed a one-year, $ 2.5 million deal last January with the Yankees, lost time early this season with a right rotator cuff problem and was pulled on July 6, during the warm-up for a game. Boone then called the injury “significant.”
O’Day has climbed the mound 12 times this season and has a 3.38 ERA.
