ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Gerrit Cole got his fifth win after snapping a run scoreless streak, DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres hit back-to-back home runs, and the New York Yankees beat Texas.

The series opener marked Aaron Judge’s first game at Texas since he broke Roger Maris’s AL single-season record with his 62nd home run at Rangers Stadium in October.

Cole’s scoreless streak reached 25 2/3 innings before the Rangers scored in the sixth on Jonah Heim’s choice shot.

With his eight strikeouts, Cole (5-0) pushed his season total to 44 Ks, one more than Rangers ace Jacob deGrom for the AL lead. He allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings. Michael King pitched the last 2 1/3 innings for his first save.

Andrew Heaney (2-2) struck out six and walked one in six innings for Texas.

NEW YORK (AP) — Jeff McNeil broke an eighth-inning tiebreaker with an RBI triple and New York blew a pair of multi-run leads before rallying to beat Washington.

The Mets led 4-1 and 6-3 before CJ Abrams’ grand slam in the top of the eighth gave the Nationals an 8-7 lead. But Starling Marte started the game with a triple. But Starling Marte started the bottom half with a single off Mason Thompson (2-2).

Marte stole second, went to third on a Francisco Lindor fly ball and jogged home when Pete Alonso split the gap to right-center field with a double. McNeil then tripled off the right field wall.

Brooks Raley (1-0) gave up Abrams’ grand slam but earned the win. David Robertson scored his fifth save with a perfect ninth.

CUBS 5, PADRES 2

CHICAGO (AP) – Eric Hosmer and Nelson Velázquez hit back-to-back home runs and Dansby Swanson added his first of the season to help Chicago past San Diego.

Manny Machado homered for the Padres, who had won five of seven.

Hayden Wesneski (2-1) worked the first five innings for Chicago, allowing four hits, striking out three and walking one.

Hosmer and Velázquez gave the Cubs the lead for good with back-to-back home runs by Seth Lugo (2-2) in the bottom of the second. Lugo struck out three and gave up seven hits and Chicago’s four runs in five innings.

San Diego’s Matt Carpenter had a sacrifice fly in the eighth to set up a save situation for Brad Boxberger.

PHILLIES 1, MARINERS 0

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Kody Clemens hit an RBI single to right, Matt Strahm pitched scoreless into the sixth inning, and Philadelphia reached .500 for the first time this season by beating Seattle.

Strahm (2-2) and four relievers helped the Phillies to 13-13 as they head into a six-game road trip. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save and 397 of his career, putting him on the brink of becoming the seventh reliever to record 400.

The Phillies got two of their three hits in the second inning to send Mariners starter George Kirby (2-2) to a loss.
