New York /
Gio Urshela homered in the first inning, Clint Frazier drove in two runs one night after ending the game with a home run and the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3.
New York recovered from some shocks. After losing six of seven games, the Yankees have scored two wins against the leaders of the East Division of the American League. Tampa Bay did not suffer two consecutive losses since May 11 and 12, when it faced the Yankees themselves.
Jordan Montgomery (3-1) solved 6.1 innings for New York. Only one of the three runs he allowed was earned. Cuban Aroldis Chapman was unusually out of control in the ninth episode. He gave a ticket to his first two rivals, but came out of the predicament and scored his twelfth rescue.
One night after winning 11 innings thanks to Frazier’s home run, the Yankees soon found another four-corner hit, off left-hander Shane McClanahan (2-1).
With two outs in the opening inning, Colombian Urshela found the first pitch, a fastball, and deposited the ball on the bottom floor of the stands, on the right field side, to produce two runs. Urshela added a double in the seventh inning. With information from AP
