Yamaha Releases New Five-Disc CD Player in Preparation for CD Revival

The company is preparing for a new era of CDs.

Despite the popularity of music streaming services, many music lovers may still have CD collections. Yamaha has released a new player that can hold five discs at once. Users can change them during playback, reports New Atlas.

The modern music consumer clearly prefers not to own physical media, judging by the dominance of streaming. However, some people still buy, trade and own CDs. Manufacturers such as Pro-Ject and McIntosh are releasing new equipment to prepare for the format’s return to popularity.

The new Yamaha player offers much more convenience than a single-disc system because its loading tray can hold five discs at once. The CD-C603 offers a feature called Play X Change, which allows the listener to open the multi-disc tray during playback and change any of the other four.

The Yamaha Hi-Fi amplifier function allows you to get high-quality sound from the player. It turns off the digital audio output and display using the remote control to eliminate possible interference and ensure clear sound.

In another modern touch, the device features a front-panel USB port for connecting flash drives containing digital audio files up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The rear panel has analog (RCA) and digital (optical) outputs for connecting the player to a Hi-Fi amplifier, as well as connectors for remote control.

The CD-C603 is not yet available for sale. The recommended retail price is $549,95 (~50,000 rubles).

They say the younger generation is reviving the CD trend. Young collectors are buying up old CDs with albums by their favorite artists.
