Yamaha made a splash in late 2022 by launching an electric motorcycle in Vietnam on December 30. Called the Yamaha Neo, this eco-friendly scooter is marketed at a nominal price equivalent to IDR 32.8 million.
In appearance, the Yamaha Neo features a contemporary scooter-style design with a fully rounded shape. The front uses a lamp cover that forms like a pair of eyes. Then on the back it has a separate lamp design from the body.

Yamaha NEO uses a new generation electric motor, YIPU 2, exclusively designed by Yamaha. In this system, the engine, rear brakes and MCU (Motor Control Unit) control system are mounted on the rear swingarm.
This engine system is bolted to a 10-inch 10-spoke wheel, making it very easy to remove the wheel during repair or tire changes.
The Yamaha Neo is equipped with a Li-ion battery/BFM1, 51.1V, 23.2Ah, which can be fully recharged in 8 hours. When the battery is fully charged, this motorcycle can travel up to 75 km, but with a note that the speed must be in the order of 30 km/hour and the weight of the driver is 75 kg.

In terms of performance, the electric motor installed on this bike is capable of delivering 2.3 kW of power and a maximum torque of 138.3 Nm at 40 rpm. The weight of this motorcycle reaches 98 kg, including the battery.
Yamaha Neo is equipped with a number of excellent features, such as the ability to install an additional battery in the trunk, a charger in the console of the front box, eco and normal driving modes, connectivity in the Y-Connect application, to a keyless system .
Speaking of color choices and pricing, Yamaha Vietnam offers the Neo in three color choices namely black, white and blue. While the official price starts from 50,000,000 VND or when converted to 32.8 million IDR.
