Yamaha Lexi 125 cc Production Discontinued, Replaced with 155 cc Engine Equivalent to Nmax and Aerox: Full Details and Pricing

Jakarta

Yamaha stops production of Lexi 125 cc. This model was then replaced with an engine capacity equivalent to Nmax and Aerox.

Since its introduction in 2018, the Yamaha Lexi has emerged as a differentiator among the Maxi Series. The motorbike has a deck. Meanwhile, Nmax and Aerox have a front tank so the deck is stepped. Lexi’s appearance from the previous version is still maintained by Yamaha.

Entering their fifth year, Yamaha Nmax and Aerox have received a major refresh. It’s just Lexi who hasn’t received an update. Only at the beginning of 2024, Lexi will be polished with a fresher appearance, plus it will use a 155 cc engine. What is Yamaha’s reason for replacing the Lexi engine with performance equivalent to Nmax and Aerox?

“Yamaha always listens to consumers’ voices, after launching the 125 (cc), the model received appreciation from the Indonesian people. However, according to consumer input, many Indonesians want to get power bigger,” said Marketing Director of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing, Hiroshi Takeyama at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday (12/1/2024).

Furthermore, President Director and CEO Dyonisius Beti explained that Lexi, which is included in the Maxi Series, was asked by consumers to move up a class. This request was granted, practically Lexi is now out of the Yamaha portfolio in the 125 cc class with a blue core engine.

“One is because she (Lexi) is in the Maxi category, and the body size is bigger, and consumers expect a higher class. Meanwhile at 125 cc, Yamaha already has various blue core models such as Mio, Gear, Freego, Fazzio and so on. So “This is going up a class,” explained Dyon on the same occasion.

The work of the Lexi 125, which was able to compete with the Vario 125, is finally over. PT YIMM decided to inject the 125 cc engine into Lexi, then continue with the 155 cc engine.

“The old 125 cc Lexi, with the release of the 155, automatically (Lexi 125) was discontinued, and the new model continued,” added Dyon.

The latest engine on the Lexi LX 155 produces maximum power of 11.3 kW (15.1 hp) at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 14.2 Nm at 6500 rpm. Apart from that, the Lexi LX 155 engine also has VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), SOHC, 4 valve and liquid cooled technology.

As a comparison, the Aerox reaches 11.3 kW (15.1 hp) at 8,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 13.9 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Even on paper, the performance is the same as Nmax.

It’s just that the Lexi has the same engine but the lightest weight among the other Maxi Series models. Yamaha Nmax has a fill weight; 130 kg (Standard and Connected Version) and 132 kg (Connected/ABS Version), then Aerox; 125 kg (ABS) and 122 kg (Standard Version), and Lexi LX; 116 kg (Standard), 117 kg (S Version) and 118 kg (Connected/ABS).

Regarding price, Lexi is offered in three variants. Here’s the list:

  • Lexi LX 155 Connected ABS with Magma Black color sold for Rp. 29,900,000 (recommended price OTR Jakarta)
  • The Lexi LX 155 S version in Magma Black, Elixir Dark Silver and Matte Red is priced at IDR 26,850,000
  • Lexi LX 155 Standard with Metallic Black, Matte Gray and Metallic Red colors is sold for IDR. 25,350,000.
