Yamaha attacks Vinales, Lin Jarvis: He’s a racer who talks a lot and takes little action : Okezone Sports

LESMO Yamaha and Maverick Vinales have officially separated. However, the two sides still seem to be at war with each other and are throwing slanderous words at each other.

The latest Yamaha Managing Director, Lin Jarvis, tried to counter the attitude of Vinales who often made harsh comments about the team with the tuning fork logo. According to Jarvis, Vinales is a racer who talks too much in public.

For Jarvis, drivers should not talk too much about team problems to outsiders. Because he feels that complaining in front of the media will not solve the problem.

Jarvis prefers if there are drivers who complain about the bike or the team’s performance during internal meetings. So that way the solution can be searched and found.

However, in fact Jarvis has seen Vinales complaining in public more often. Either when he was still at Yamaha or now he has joined Aprilia.

For Jarvis, Vinales’ attitude was very unprofessional. The reason is that a racer should only keep the kitchen secret for his team because of course there is a contract that has been agreed that not all team problems must be known to the public.

“Yes of course (Jarvis’s answer when asked if there is a driver’s contract is forbidden to say bad things about the team). Of course there are some things that should not be said (in public). However, you obviously can’t prevent what the drivers feel,” said Jarvis, quoted from Speedweek, Tuesday (7/9/2021).

“However, there are certain lines and certain limits that should not be crossed in such a context. Obviously, you want a racer who is smart and avoids negative statements. Because you can’t be faster or improve your performance if you only criticize your team, your boss and your engineers. That’s a fact,” Jarvis continued.

“You can express your opinion in closed meetings. But you don’t have to do this in public. That example (Vinales problem) pinpoints the problem. Maybe a rider has to work more behind the scenes, he has to build a strong team.”

Jarvis seems to be starting to get angry with Vinales’ attitude which always corners Yamaha in the media. The latest Top Gun demeans the atmosphere of the Yamaha team and compares it to Aprilia which the racer considers much more fun.
