If you’ve played Yakuza: Like a Dragon before, you’ll remember struggling financially with Kasuga Ichiban and his companions, only to find you were nowhere near being able to get anything when you walked into a store with the best weapons and gear. Things are still millions of yen away. That all changes when you become president of Ichiban Sweets, a humble shop that eventually became Yokohama’s largest (and most profitable) holding company.
Once you complete and optimize the management mini-game, money is no longer an issue, but now there is a new mini-game in Infinite Wealth that is deeper and requires more dedication and attention to generate profits. Dondoko Island Resort will be the best resort in all of Hawaii, but first you have to work hard and plan ahead to transform an island from a dump to the best hotel you have ever dreamed of.
Of course, the first thing to know is when you will be able to access the Dondoko Island mini-game. We won’t reveal too many details (that’s what enjoying the game is all about), but we can tell you that starting with Chapter 6, you’ll be able to visit the island. It’s then up to Ichiban (alone) to unravel some strange creatures and one poor vendor to restore the island to its former glory, all while dealing with a gang of pirates who are using it as an illegal dumping ground.
Take out the bats and clean up the trash
When we arrived at Dondoko Island, Mukku and Gachapin asked us to clean up the beach and the entrance to Dondoko Square. All other areas will now be closed, so organizing this area will first show you familiarity with their systems and then start the urban planning of the hotel complex. But before you can build, you need materials, and for this you need to use the tools of the bat. Don’t leave a pile of garbage behind, in doing so you will collect various materials to build buildings and objects to make the island more attractive.
As you clean up, you may see oddly colored caterpillars hopping around you. Take out the Butterfly Catcher to collect your first Dokoinsects (red and green). They will be a great way to start earning dokobucks until you find other bugs or fish (in the fishing area). The island’s local currency lets you buy tool upgrades, buy accommodation, and build everything else. Make sure you get as many resources and items to sell as possible each day (or round) of the game. Important: If you have a complete inventory, sell anything you don’t need and keep the rest in storage.

Clear the area and start building
Once you’ve removed enough trash from an area and saved enough money, it’s time to clean up the area. By paying a certain amount, you will always clear the land of rubbish, and the materials that will appear there will go directly to a recycling point for you to collect. Don’t forget to go there every day, because what you don’t pick up today, you won’t accumulate for the next day.Every scrap of plastic you need to find

To upgrade the Dondoko Island complex, you need to increase the levels of three different types of attributes: Creative Talent, Satisfaction, and Popularity.
Creative Talent increases each time you construct an object or building on the island. Unlocking certain types of buildings or entering other areas of the island also requires you to level up. Satisfaction increases as you add various activities to the island, which are in turn enabled by buildings. The final section, Popularity, rises with certain special buildings, certain actions (such as broadcasting announcements to bring tourists to the island), and greeting and giving gifts to tourists. All three bars rise almost simultaneously, but Popularity requires more focus and perseverance to reach S rank. Speaking of levels…
Don’t rush to get rich: everything will come to you
As I warned in my review of Infinite Fortune, Dondoko Island isn’t as quick a moneymaker as Ichiban Sweets’ Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Here you must spend your time saving materials, catching fish and insects, and keeping the island safe. Trash Pirates are troublesome, but defeating them shouldn’t be much of a problem. However, if you’re struggling in combat, you can upgrade your bat to hit faster than them. If you need health, just decorate your house on the island to increase your healthy heart. Additionally, each defeated enemy drops dokobucks, so this is another source of income.
Let’s talk about housing. In order for the island to start turning a profit, you have to attract customers, but they will only come if they have a place to sleep. F-range accommodation is very cheap but of poor quality (like shacks in the Yokohama settlement). Now it doesn’t matter because only F-class tourists (who spent very little money on the attractions we built) will want to come to the island, so that’s good for us. An important tip here is that you don’t want to buy all the accommodations in each level (you won’t have the space to put them, and you won’t have that many customers). I built a few F-series quarters and then jumped straight to the C-series, and the client was much happier with them. Visitors are only on the island for three days, so you need to make them feel comfortable. Whenever you see them passing by, say hello and give them a gift of what you made/hunted/fished. As you complete objectives, your level will increase so you reach the second island: Dondoko Farm.

Sujimon, the real Dondoko hero
The Sujimon you captured in Honolulu will appear with you at Dondoko Farm, where you can put them to work in different activities to gather resources, craft gifts (and make money), or train them to become better fighters in the Sujimon League. Plus, you’ll be able to pay attention to them (after all, everyone wants you to listen to them), thereby making them more effective. The strategic idea is to have them develop vegetable crops and recycle natural elements, since at higher levels you’ll need ample supplies of additional wood and stone.
That’s all for now. We will continue to update this guide with tips on how to reach Five Star and S Rank on Dondoko Island. So you’ll never be short of funds for the best weapons and gear in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
