In recent years, the franchise is very popular Yakuza greatly increased. No wonder SEGA finally he agreed to move to Nintendo Switch. The series is presented on a hybrid platform with the first part.
Yakuza Kiwami was announced for Nintendo Switch in August this year and went on sale this week. The remake of the original Yakuza takes players into the small but intense open world of Kamurocho, where protagonist Kazuma Kiryu embarks on an adventure in his first crime saga.
The re-release features new story content featuring Akira Niskiyama and Goro Majima, with the latter also introduced as a recurring enemy that Kiryu must fight again and again. The release trailer for Yakuza Kiwami for Nintendo Switch can be seen below.
Saturday stream Studio Ryu Ga Gotoku Yakuza representative Masayoshi Yokoyama he said that the new version of Yakuza Kiwami is selling better than expected.
“I heard that the new version of Kiwami is selling like hotcakes. This is amazing. Company officials made a prediction, but I missed by a wide margin. He was too conservative.
The first Yakuza came out almost 20 years ago. Then we updated it to the Kiwami version, and that happened a long time ago as well. It seemed to me, over the years, that everyone wanted to finish it. But with the premiere of the series for Amazon Prime, we launched a port for Switch, and I’m very happy that the game was heard again, people are playing Yakuza Kiwami again.
It’s hard to remake games, and it’s even harder to sell them again. That’s why I’m happy. I also downloaded Yakuza Kiwami on Switch. It’s great to be able to play the game anywhere.”
Yokoyama also confirmed that Studio Ryu Ga Gotoku independently ported Yakuza Kiwami to Switch, but had problems because the Yakuza team had never worked with a hybrid platform before and only had a rough idea of its capabilities.
