the franchise Yakuza it can leave Japan and move elsewhere in the world. At least that was the idea that Kazuki Hosokawa, director of Lost Judgment and studio veteran Ryu Ga Gotoku, suggested during a recent conversation with journalists.
On the occasion, Hosokawa spoke about the developer’s future and how the studio intends to continue investing in simultaneous worldwide releases of titles from Yakuza. Leaving Japan behind and taking the characters to new countries, with new places to explore, was one of the possibilities raised by the director.

The franchise has become a global blockbuster and the latest release, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, arrived in the West with Brazilian Portuguese subtitles a little over a year apart in relation to the launch in Japan.

Lost Judgment, spin-off sequence Judgment, will have a worldwide release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on September 24th.
Yakuza no Brasil?
Hosokawa’s statements reverberated on the internet and led many fans to imagine, jokingly, what a Yakuza set not Brazil.
The ideas range from a truco championship, to a protagonist who would be a former player of Vasco da Gama.

John Wick x Kazuma Kiryu
Hosokawa used the press conference to comment on who would win a battle between the protagonist of the first seven main games, Kazuma Kiryu, and the protagonist of the film franchise John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves.

By showing a natural talent for solving tricky issues on the basis of the beating, Kiryu and John Wick appear in a series of memes that put the two characters to fight.
Commenting on the matter, Hozokawa stated that it is difficult to have a head-to-head battle with the legendary hero of Yakuza. “Kiryu isn’t really a human, so it’s hard to have a battle with John Wick,” declared Hozokawa with a laugh. “I think Kiryu is probably stronger than John Wick because you can’t kill him even after shooting him with a gun.”
It remained unanswered, however, whether Kiryu would also beat Marcos Jeeves, John Wick’s Brazilian look-alike and equally voracious:
