Game developers from the Yakut studio Fntastic announced on December 12 the cessation of their activities. Information about this is published on the company’s official website.

The message states that the reason for the closure was the financial collapse of the game The Day Before. The MMO shooter was released in Steam Early Access on December 7. Even before release, the game entered list of the most anticipated and in the first hours topped the popularity rating after release. However, user reviews were extremely negative. According to Steam data as of December 12, out of almost 20 thousand reviews, only 17% are positive.

Fntastic’s official statement states that the game’s servers will continue to function, but the future of the project is unknown. At the same time, the studio emphasized that they did not collect money in advance for the creation of The Day Before: they did not launch a crowdfunding campaign and did not make pre-orders.

“We apologize if we did not meet your expectations. We did our best, but we overestimated ourselves. Making games is a real challenge. We are grateful to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. It’s been a fantastic eight-year journey,” the developers wrote.
