Yahya Staquf says there are efforts to reduce PBNU – PKB to a personal problem

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – General Chairman of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf said that everything that every PBNU employee does or tells the public is the opinion of the group, not the opinion of individuals.

“If there are statements from the secretary general, the deputy secretary general, my own statements, these are all statements from groups, not individuals,” he said. Yahya Staquf in the written statement received Tempo on Friday, August 16 2024.

The official position of the PBNU group, Yahya said, was taken through organizational means, namely the full management meeting. PBNU, he said, would not speak unless there was a meeting first.

“This is not about Yahya Staquf fighting him Mohamin. It is not about Saifullah Yusuf against his cousin (Muhaimin). It’s not about that. “This is an organizational issue,” Yahya said.

So far, Yahya said, there were no personal problems within the management of PBNU and PKB. Because, in PBNU, he said, there are many administrators who are not only active in PKB, but also in Gerindra, Golkar, PDIP, as well as several members of other political parties.

Yahya admitted that there are currently parties that are trying to reduce the relationship between PBNU and PKB to a personal matter.

Previously, PKB General Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin stressed that PKB and PBNU had no organizational relationship. Cak Imin said that the relationship was only cultural, aspirational and historical.

Therefore, according to Cak Imin, PBNU should not interfere with the management of the PKB. Because, he said, PKB is protected by the constitution and the law on political parties, and PBNU is protected by the Law on Large Groups.

“You are not allowed to interfere with the management of the PKB,” said Cak Imin. He asked the PBNU administrators to abide by the constitution.

Cak Imin explained that PKB and PBNU have their own Articles of Association/Bylaws (AD/ART). From there, Cak Imin invited each other to respect and appreciate each other.

Before the Congress, PKB was hit by issues of dispute with PBNU. On Monday, August 12, 2024, several kiai asked PKB to improve because it was considered that he was increasingly far from the spirit of the party.
