Yahoo Acquires Wagr, a 3-Year-Old Sports Betting Social Service

YahooAnnounceAcquired headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, and established Wagr, a 3-year-old sports betting social service.

Wagr is a service that combines online community interaction and sports betting. In the past 3 years since its establishment, Wagr has acquired investment firm Seven Seven Six from New York venture capital firm Greycroft, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, and Tinder co-founder Justin Mateen and the Kraft Group, which owns the NFL’s New England Patriots (New England Patriots), received a total of $16 million in investment.

However, Yahoo sports content has attracted many people to watch in the United States, and has a high degree of user stickiness. Therefore, the acquisition of Wagr is expected to improve the online interactive discussion experience of its existing game viewers. Yahoo’s ability to monetize content is to make up for the current poor performance of its online advertising business.

However, Yahoo did not disclose the relevant amount behind the acquisition of Wagr.
