Alexei Yagudin was deprived of the opportunity to make a fortune during his sports career. The skater admitted that he only had to dream of what young athletes have now.
For example, today those who play professional sports have a salary. This was not the case before. For victories in major international competitions, according to Yagudin, young people receive quite large fees, the amount of which can reach five million rubles.
Yagudin, however, could never boast of such dividends. Tatyana Tarasova’s former ward told what award he received in 2002 for his victory in Salt Lake City. It was then that he became an Olympic champion.
“He gave a voucher: dark chocolate 100 kilograms. And then the whole hundred was not given – the sponsors quarreled. My mother, as a person from the Soviet Union, knocked on the doorstep to collect this dark chocolate. Not enough, but at least they sweetened life a bit”. – said Yagudin in an interview for the YouTube channel TV FAMETIME.
