The Hamburg parents’ course “Safe Harbor” receives the Yagmur commemorative prize “Civil courage in child protection” 2020, endowed with 2,000 euros.

According to the Yagmur Memorial Foundation, the joint project of the “Berndtsteinkinder Stiftung” and the Hamburg association “Von Anfang an” accompanies and supports parents over a period of 20 months – from pregnancy to the second year of the child’s life. A team of midwives and pediatric nurses is on hand to support the families. Parents should learn to better understand their baby’s signals and to react to them sensitively.

The commemorative prize has been awarded since 2016

The commemorative prize has been awarded since 2016, on the anniversary of Yagmur’s death. The three-year-old girl was so severely abused by her birth mother that she died in 2013. The Hamburg citizenship then set up the Yagmur investigative committee. A test report certified a chain of errors. The prize honors projects that work for child protection.
