Celebrating the XXVII General Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival and celebrating 150 years of holiday traditions, the night of sing-alongs after the closing concert in Mežapark, which has become a tradition, will be dedicated to Latvian folk songs and the beautiful regions of Latvia, Linda Ertmane, representative of the Latvian National Cultural Center, informed LETA agency.

With the support of the mobile communications operator “Latvijas mobilais telefons” (LMT), a digital songbook was created especially for this event – karaoke with the words of folk songs, which are available for free in the “LMT Viedtelevīzija” app and on the Internet, so that everyone has the opportunity to sing along.
With respect for the environment and sustainable traditions, this time there will be no printed songbooks for the sing-along night,

“Da me, sister, da you, sister”
The artistic leaders of the night of singing, Juris Vaivods and Laura Leontjeva, have chosen to emphasize folk songs, regional colors and their diversity in this celebration. There will be both well-known and little-known and also completely newly discovered folk songs, the color of which everyone will be able to see and sing along by scanning the QR code and opening the lyrics on their smart device.
In the digital songbook of Kurzemi, Vidzemi, Zemgali, Sēliju and Latgali, domestic ethnomusicians and soloists sing. The song “Da es māsiņ’, da tu māsiņ” for the digital songbook, written by Marija Palka in Ārgliu Krastmaļi, was sung by three women from the Midlands – Lauma Bērza, Aija Andrejeva and Laura Leontjeva, while Ance participated in more than 40 folk songs with her voice and playing instruments. Krauze, Jānis Aišpurs, Julgī Stalte, Asnate Rancāne, Aurelija Rancāne, Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis, Artūrs Uškāns, Katrīna Dimanta, Laima Dimanta, Erik Zeps, Kristīne Zadovska, Andrejs Planders, Beāte Locika, Viktorija Prituļak and the “Anima” group of Saulkrasti Choir – Elīna Ose, Eduards Plankājs, Tomas Sergejevs, Toms Āboliņš, Klāvs Riepnieks, Kristaps Solovjovs and Emīls Kraucis.
