The sports retail chain XXL continues its expansion within the Alpine republic. On September 16, 2021, the Norwegians will open a store in the Südpark shopping center in Klagenfurt.
The Norwegian sporting goods chain XXL (Oslo) is continuing to work on its ambitious goal of becoming number 1 in the Austrian sporting goods trade. XXL currently operates seven stores in Austria, now the eighth store is to open in Klagenfurt, the capital of the southern Austrian state of Carinthia. “In these challenging times, it is particularly gratifying that we will soon be opening a branch in Klagenfurt,” explains Magnus Kreuger, Managing Director of XXL Sports. Kreuger continued to keep an eye on Carinthia for a long time and now finally found the right location. The Carinthians are very sporty, so the XXL range fits perfectly into the new region.
On September 16, the go-ahead will be given for the 2,500 square meter store, which will be run by Branch Manager Marina Gasser. Around 30 people are said to be employed in the branch. The new store believes in “the perfect mix of store and online to give guests a perfect shopping experience across all channels”. Among other things, there will be a pick-up station, i.e. online orders can be picked up directly from the locker at the pick-up station. This offers customers “an additional and unique omni shopping experience”. The company emphasizes, however, that despite the strong development in the direction of online trading, the XXL branches want to score points above all with their service, advice and personal contact with guests.
On the occasion of the opening celebrations, the chain store lures with numerous offers: On this day, customers can expect “the biggest opening that the sports market in Carinthia has ever seen”. In addition to “never seen” offers in the areas of “Running & Training”, “Ski, Bike & Sportstech”, “Outdoor” and “Leisure and Children”, there will be competitions, vouchers for the online shop and much more.
XXL Sports was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Oslo. The company has branches in its home country Norway as well as in Sweden, Finland and Austria. In order to make business in Austria more profitable, the chain store opened a new 7,000 square meter central warehouse in Enzendorf in November 2020. All XXL stores in the Alpine republic are supplied from here.
