Lecturers were prominent Bulgarian scientists and researchers – Acad. Ivan Ilchev, who spoke on the topic “Arguments over Macedonia”, Dr. Atanas Orachev, who presented the report “Faith and culture of the Black Sea Strandzha settlements”, Assoc. Dr. Albena Milanova from SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”, which told about nnewly discovered bronze matrix with warrior saints from Ahtopol.
Among the researchers who shared interesting details of their work were Franziska van der Buren from the Catholic University of Leuven with the report “Aristotle and the Thracians”, Nikolai Penev with the topic: “Xenophon’s data on the Thracians of Asia Minor”, Dr. Kalin Dimitrov from the Center for underwater archeology in Sozopol, who introduced the attendees to the results of underwater archaeological research in 2024 and shared what the prospects are for the future projects of underwater archaeologists.
With great interest, the report of Assoc. Dr. Bonni Petrunova (NIM-Sofia) “New finds from the Agatopol monastery of St. John the Forerunner”.
The moderator of the event was Dr. Atanas Orachev, who is the chairman of the Scientific Council of “Black Sea Strand”.
The forum is organized by the “Black Sea Strandzha” association with the chairman of the people’s representative Eng. Petar Kanev and the “Demax” company.
The opening began with a water light officiated by Jordan from Ahtopol. At the beginning of the conference, Eng. Petar Kanev took stock of the association’s work over the past year and recalled the organization’s contribution to the preservation and research of cultural and historical heritage not only in the Black Sea and Strandzha, but also throughout the country.
