More than 70 students from Secondary Education Centers from several autonomous communities have participated in the final phase of the XVI National Greco-Latin Classical Theater Competition, which for the third time took place at the Roman Theater of Mérida. This is a contest that aims to promote the productions created by teachers and students from secondary schools throughout the country and disseminate them as examples of good practices. The group ‘Párodos’ from the IES Siberia Extremeña of Talarrubias (Badajoz) has been a finalist in two categories of the contest, along with the Cultural Association ‘Noite Bohemia’ of La Coruña, the Association ‘Alezeiateatro’ of Málaga and IES Al-Andalus of Almería . The general secretary of Education and Vocational Training, María Pilar Pérez, and the general director of the Extremaduran Public Entity of Complementary Educational Services, Eduardo Villaverde, attended the performance of ‘Ismendora y Bacón’, one of the finalist works by the Extremaduran group of the IES Siberia Extremadura de Talarrubias. With this adaptation of Plutarco, created by the group’s teacher and director, Silvia Zarco, they have participated in the short performances category. The National Greco-Latin Classical Theater Competition, organized by the Ministry of Education and Professional Training, awards prizes in three modalities, tragedy, comedy; which is intended for students enrolled in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training; and that of short performances, which is aimed only at students enrolled in Compulsory Secondary Education. The prizes in the different categories range between 1,000 and 8,000 euros.
