Information
Announcement of the XVI National Contest of Classical Greco-Latin Theater, in order to stimulate and recognize the effort of the Classical Greco-Latin Theater groups of the educational centers and school theater groups to disseminate the reading and theatrical representation of the classic Greco-Latin works, the values of the classical world and its validity in today’s world.
Participating groups may apply in the following modalities:
Modality A: intended for staging and representation of theatrical works of the classical Greek and Latin tradition. Secondary school students from public and private centers:
- A1- Greek/Latin tragedy and Greek comedy (20 students maximum per group).
- A2- Latin comedy (12 students maximum per group). The works with which they will compete will be by classical Greek and Latin authors. The performance of the work will last between 45 and 65 minutes.
Modality B: intended for the promotion of culture and classical theater through the assembly of brief, original or adapted performances of fables, dramatic, mythological or historical texts. Compulsory secondary education students from public and private centers (12 students maximum per group). The works with which they will compete will come from classical Greek or Latin authors or will be inspired by works or themes from classical Antiquity. The performance of the work will last between 15 and 20 minutes.
The deadline for submitting applications for participation will begin the day after the publication of the announcement in the BOE and will end at 2:00 p.m. on April 26, 2023.

Requirements
Theater groups with students from public and private centers may participate: in Modality A all theater groups, in which only students enrolled in Secondary Education (Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training) act. In Modality B, only students enrolled in Compulsory Secondary Education may participate.

Modality A.1. Awards in the category of Greek/Latin tragedy or Greek comedy:
- First prize: 8,000 euros.
- Second prize: 3,000 euros.
Modality A.2. Awards in the Latin Comedy Category:
- First prize: 6,000 euros.
- Second prize: 2,000 euros.
Modality B. Awards in the category of short performances:
- First prize: 4,000 euros.
- Second prize: 1,000 euros.
