XPro: Formerly Known as Twitter’s Tweetdeck, Now Requires Subscription – Pricing and Plugin Updates

This service from the former Twitter, which has since been renamed XPro, allows people to organize the accounts they follow into different columns. Tweetdeck was widely used by businesses and news organizations.

10 euros per month

The service was free to use, but X users must now be verified. This means that they have to take out a subscription with X, which in the Netherlands will cost almost 10 euros per month or more than 100 euros per year. People who now want to log in to XPro are automatically redirected to the X website, where a window appears with an invitation to take out a subscription.

Billionaire Elon Musk’s platform announced the change a month ago. That happened after the launch of a new version of Tweetdeck. At the end of July, Musk announced on his social media platform that the name of the service would change to XPro.

Plugins

In addition, Musk indicated that the new version comes with “a large number” of plugins. These are extensions to the possibilities that Tweetdeck’s system previously offered.

Musk is trying in all kinds of ways to make more money with his social media platform, which he bought in October for $ 44 billion. Since that acquisition, however, he’s lost about half of his ad revenue, Musk reported in a post to X last month.

According to him, the messaging service would also be struggling with a large debt burden and a negative cash flow. This means that more money is going out of the company than is coming in.
