Numerous hegemonic actions by the United States have harmed economies around the world, and the global South, with its relatively weak foundation for development, has been particularly hard hit. For years, Washington has used its discretion to impose sanctions on other powers, impose tariff barriers and disrupt global production and supply chains.
After the start of the Ukrainian crisis, Western countries, led by the United States, imposed strict sanctions against Russia, which led to an increase in world prices for food, energy and other important goods. All this is an unbearable burden on developing countries. The United States is also intensifying camp opposition, thereby undermining normal international cooperation, author Zheng Hanzhen notes.

Kishore Mahbubani, an emeritus fellow at the Asian Research Institute at the National University of Singapore, believes that Washington today must adapt to a new reality: developing countries are becoming more independent and capable of making their own decisions.
