Yan Zonghai, director of the Linkou Chang Gung Clinical Poison Center, said , Ethylene oxide is considered by the World Health Organization as a primary carcinogen, which may increase the risk of blood cancer, and may also cause central and peripheral neuropathy.

The Korean instant noodle “NONGSHIM Nongshim Super Evolution Xin Bowl Noodles (Tofu Kimchi Flavor)” was found to contain ethylene oxide, a pesticide banned in China. Yan Zonghai, director of the Chang Gung Clinical Poison Center in Linkou, said that ethylene oxide is mainly used for industrial purposes and is often used for sterilization. Yan Zonghai said that ethylene oxide is considered by the World Health Organization to be a first-class carcinogen. Long-term exposure may cause cancer. It is believed that it may increase the risk of blood cancer and may also cause central and peripheral neuropathy. Although only trace amounts of illegal products were found, there are still concerns about carcinogenicity. It is recommended that the industry should clarify the cause as soon as possible.
