Xiaomi fans were surprised yesterday by the news of the end of MIUI’s reign and the launch of new software, HyperOS. This will be the new operating system of the Chinese technology company that aims to unify the experience in its product portfolio.
When HyperOS was revealed, the company was sparse in the details shared about its new operating system. Now, however, we have the first images of what Xiaomi’s new software will look like, allowing us to see what MIUI’s replacement will look like.
HyperOS is not very different from MIUI
After the images in question were released, the beliefs of those who assumed that the future of Xiaomi’s software would be noticeably different fell to the ground. The truth is that HyperOS will continue the Chinese technology company’s software design philosophy.
The general appearance of HyperOS and the design of its icons are a clear reminder of what MIUI has accustomed us to over the years. There is a feeling of perpetuation of what Xiaomi has done with merit and which captivates more and more users around the world.
Still, we can see some new features in the images now shared that illustrate one of the first HyperOS builds. From the outset, a new range of customization for your lock screen, with new styles for the clock and background image.
We also see new customization options for widgets, as well as a new layout of the control panel elements on Xiaomi smartphones. The latter will not be radically different from previous versions, but there is a refreshment of this aggregator of options and relevant information.
The publication TechDroider shared a video that makes a brief comparison between HyperOS and MIUI. In a few minutes, we can see what Xiaomi has already prepared for its new operating system and how it compares to the software it will replace.
In effect, we can say that HyperOS does not bring a totally different design philosophy to Xiaomi’s mobile devices. The similarities with MIUI are unmistakable and, at first glance, it appears to be another update between generations.
HyperOS will be launched globally and will make its debut with the launch of the Xiaomi 14. We hope that Xiaomi’s new smartphones can be presented later this month, but their global launch should only take place in early 2024.
