The Chinese technology company Xiaomi introduced its first electric model SU7, holding a magnificent presentation event in Beijing, but the car has already generated considerable interest in itself – customers will have to wait for the car for a long time, up to 7 months, reports Reuters, referring to the Xiaomi app.
Within 24 hours after the presentation of the car, 88,898 people pre-ordered it, according to the information available to the media. However, market observers point out that Xiaomi is entering the market at a difficult time.
The starting price of the new car is around 30 thousand dollars, which is apparently good for an electric car, but the Chinese market is a bit different – two of the current leading manufacturers, Tesla and BYD, have engaged in a price war, aggressively reducing the prices of their cars. Xiaomi SU7 is still cheaper than Tesla Model 3, but as one of its main trump cards Xiaomi calls its internal ecosystem – smartphone, car and other smart home appliances are interconnected. The company’s representatives demonstrated how a person sitting in a car talks to a courier who has brought home a parcel and pressed the smart doorbell.
Other manufacturers have no choice either, and the competition in China is huge. True, the company has quite a lot of experience in marketing its products and has sufficient budget reserves – a luxury that not every new electric car manufacturer has, in addition, Xiaomi cooperates with an existing Chinese car manufacturer “Beijing Automotive Group” in the production of its car, which means that with production should go more smoothly than others trying to produce their first electric car.
