‘Xiaomi tests optional MIUI security feature that prevents sideloading’ – Tablets and phones – News

Yes, with us you will get the work device anyway.

But if you want to be able to do BYOD in addition to that, you can. So with the limitations.

This allows people to walk with a single phone, or use their own iPad when traveling. But it is never mandatory with us. When you need the tools, you just get them. We just want to offer extra flexibility, but in a safe way.

What we just don’t have is device choice. That is why you see a lot with us that people just throw the work device in a drawer and put the SIM in their private device (if they don’t have a dual SIM for example). Especially in the countries where we don’t deliver great devices, this is negotiated per country. Here in Spain, for example, we get midrange Samsungs that are quite slow, while in the Netherlands iPhones are given.

It’s also funny to see how different some countries view it. With us, BYOD is completely banned in Germany by the works council because they think it distracts from private life. As an employee I much prefer to make that choice myself, but they don’t have it there. That’s why everyone has to walk there with two phones.

I think this is a shame because on Android you can switch off the entire work profile with 1 press if you want, then the apps will no longer work and you will not receive any notifications. Anyway they do, I don’t live in Germany
