I’ve gotten a bit tired of the discussion, I also want phones to be more compact and have things like a MicroSD slot and a 3.5mm jack.
But as a main point, just more compact, this was one of the reasons that I switched to iOS, because what was still fairly compact in terms of Android, immediately lost battery life.
Anyway, the reason I didn’t want to start that discussion myself this time is because it comes down to the same thing every time, the way I see it is that phones like the 12/13 Mini have “flopped” due to lack of choice, almost all of the smartphone market consists of large phones with some exceptions that are more “compact” such as the S22, iPhone 13 (Pro) or the Zenfone 8 from Asus.
So because there is no other option (usually the people who are looking for a cheaper device) they automatically opt for a larger telephone, and so the smaller devices that can be counted on almost one hand logically sell worse.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be as small as a 12/13 Mini (do offer the option for the rest of the market), but a more modern Galaxy S10e with 3.5mm and a MicroSD card slot would be a nice option (my partner had this before, great device)
Maybe I’m a whiner, but the smartphone market has become quite boring, partly because certain brands are gone and partly because many companies (China vs China) simply copy designs too much.
That and the fact that people don’t focus enough on what a phone and its user need.
