Xiaomi company presented Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition is a branded augmented reality glasses that will make its public debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The body of the glasses is made of magnesium-lithium alloy and carbon fiber, which, in combination with the silicon-oxygen anode battery developed by Xiaomi, made it possible to keep the mass within 126 g. The glasses have MicroOLED screens with a brightness of up to 1200 nits and an angular resolution of 58 pixels per degree, which is close to how the image is perceived by the human eye. Electrochromic lenses can adapt to different lighting conditions – the dimming mode is activated when viewing content, and the transparent mode works the rest of the time.
The glasses are built on the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 platform, which, combined with Xiaomi’s patented wireless connection, ensures data transfer between the accessory and the smartphone up to 3 ms. To control the Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, you can use an application on your smartphone, a separate remote control or gesture recognition using the cameras integrated into the glasses.
The new accessory supports Qualcomm Snapdragon Spaces, OpenXR and Microsoft MRTK development standards, but so far can only work with Xiaomi smartphones. The timing of the appearance of the Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition on sale and the cost of the glasses has not yet been announced.
