Xiaomi released a smartphone video with a display curved across all four sides. The Chinese manufacturer has already shown a similar futuristic phone with an overflowing display in the past, however Mi Mix Alpha you still don’t buy.

The phone in the video could be a Mi Mix Alpha II, but so far it’s just a concept. The body does not have a single port on it, the front camera is hidden under the display, only the rear one appears classically in a module with several cameras. The headphones are connected wirelessly, charging is wireless and the volume will be controlled using virtual buttons. There will almost certainly not be a microSD or SIM card slot inside, which will be replaced by support e.g.

The curvature of the display is almost rectangular, the effect waterfall overflows at an angle of 88 °. For its production, it was necessary to bend the glass under high pressure at a temperature of 800 ° C. The sides of the phone do not contain buttons, but there is room for a status bar and other information that would interfere with the main part of the display. The concept does not show what it will look like when playing a movie.

Xiaomi claims that the phone uses 46 patents developed directly in Xiaomi, and it is thanks to them that it is said to have succeeded in replacing physical drivers. Curved displays are already common in many manufacturers, but they do not rely on them as the technology of the future and almost always introduce a cheaper variant with a flat display. Let’s also remember the curved TVs and where they end.
