The two robots in this duel are similar in many ways. Circular in shape, they have similar dimensions and both are equipped with different sensors, including a laser rangefinder located at the top, but also a set of cameras and lasers at the front to locate and, at least in theory, identify certain obstacles. . However, Roborock supplements this set with small LED lights that should allow the S7 MaxV Ultra to use its camera even in the dark, when the Xiaomi camera fails to recognize the slightest obstacle.
Other small differences are noted at the level of brushes, with Roborock having opted for all rubber, or even the water tank, inaccessible on Xiaomi, but the most notable, of course, are found on the side of mops and spas.
The S7 MaxV Ultra inherits the S7’s sonic vibrating mop, while the Robot Vacuum X10+ has two small circular mops that can be moved at 180 rpm to polish the floor. However, the good news is that both models have a mechanism that allows you to raise the mop(s) a few millimeters at a time on the carpet. They can thus carry out a complete cleaning of the house in a single pass, without the risk of wetting the carpet, provided they do not have very long pile.
On the terminal side, more or less the same functions are offered, as both are able to empty the bin of your robot, wash the mop (mop), but also fill the water tank – as well as make sure that the load is she. However, Roborock has chosen to line up the various parts needed for these functions, while the dust bag is placed under Xiaomi’s water tanks, with a more vertical structure. The S7 Max Ultra terminal is a little smaller, but takes up a little more space.
We also found the hood system adopted by Roborock to close the dust bag impractical; It so happened that one of its ends got caught a few times during our tests, breaking the hermetic casing and reducing the suction power. So the bot complex is no longer emptied properly.
contact and application
The Robot Vacuum X10+ is controlled by the Xiaomi Home app, which can also be used with most Roborock models. However, the S7 MaxV Ultra is an exception and requires the use of the manufacturer’s app. Overall, both offer very similar functionality, with customizable maps and the ability to save multiple potential floors, adjusting suction power and flow, water, or even the ability to schedule cleanings for different days of the week.
However, Roborock has made an effort to take the front camera integration of its robot a little further than Xiaomi. Various obstacles identified during the cleaning are added to the map and you can also get live video feedback to monitor what is happening in the house.
