Xiaomi reveals challenges and strategies for dealing with the chip crisis

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Xiaomi Indonesia Country Director Alvin Tse revealed Xiaomi’s challenges and strategies in dealing with the crisis chip which has become an issue in the world of technology and automotive for the past two years.

“(Scarcity) chip affect all industries. However, now it seems to have tended to stabilize. Later in Q2, Q3, and Q4, it is expected to be less supply-driven market of demand-driven market where we launch products according to consumer needs,” said Tse, quoted on Wednesday.

He added, globally, this scarcity could have an impact for months on many places or companies. Tse hopes, in the months ahead, availability chip can be more stable and encourage companies to provide the best products.

“Products that demand-centric or according to consumer interest (will be our focus). If we focus on supply-centric, later if the product is not in demand, it will have a big impact because the stock is piling up but it’s not there demand. So, we continue to try to make products with specifications and formulas that suit the needs of the community,” said Tse.

Recently, Xiaomi launched a class phone midrangethe Redmi Note 11 Series, which consists of three devices namely Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

Xiaomi Indonesia is considered “late” to release the Redmi Note 11 series in the Indonesian market, considering that Xiaomi has released this device globally last January.

Last year, when Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 10 in March 2021, Xiaomi Indonesia immediately introduced the phone at the end of the same month.

“Why us launching now? The answer is we want to make sure that we are ready from the side supply chain and steady before launching this product,” said Tse.

“Furthermore, from roadmap and experience we also want to be ready from that side, and market-nya. Market last year was not as ready as it is now. So, from these considerations, it is better for us to be ready and present a device of good quality than to launch it in a hurry.”

Redmi Note 11 Series brings more powerful specifications and features in the camera system, charging speed, display, and SoC (System-on-a-Chip), which makes performance smartphone This is more powerful to match the needs of users in the Indonesian market smartphone which performs superbly.

The device is priced starting from Rp. 2.4 million. Redmi Note 11 can be pre-ordered starting Tuesday (15/3) via mi.com and several e-commerce sites such as Shopee and Akulaku, or you can visit Erafone and Xiaomi Stores throughout Indonesia.

While the inaugural sale of the Redmi Note 11 will begin on March 22, 2022 and the Redmi Note 11 Pro Series on March 30, 2022.
