The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has on Friday website an unnamed concept phone presented without ports. Instead, the screen continues in the edges on four sides.
The screen of the phone only does not bend in the corners. Furthermore, the screen continues on the left, right, bottom and top of the device. Xiaomi speaks of a ‘quad-curved waterfall display’.
With the concept Xiaomi wants to show the future of smartphones. According to the company, phones ultimately only consist of a screen.
As a result, there is no more space for connections and buttons on the device. They would be replaced by virtual buttons. Charging can be done wirelessly and a physical SIM card is replaced by a virtual e-SIM card.
Because it is a concept, the question is whether Xiaomi will ever release the device. Previously, phones with screens that curved in the edges on the side, such as the Galaxy S10 + from Samsung. Later, however, Samsung decided to make screens flat again.
