Xiaomi POCO X6 Pro Review: A Game-Changing Mid-Range Phone with HyperOS

In order to get rid of the brand label of “Xiaomi represents low price” overseas, Xiaomi launched the POCO sub-brand in its early years. Of course, the emergence of POCO also completed its mission. POCO represents Xiaomi’s “highest cost performance” in overseas markets. In the blink of an eye, six years have passed and a new cost-effective model from POCO has arrived as promised, which is also the POCO X6 Pro we are testing today. The “real body” of POCO X6 Pro is actually the Redmi 70E in the Chinese market. It was launched in the international market under the name of POCO. POCO X6 Pro is of great significance this time because it is the first HyperOS (Paper OS) mobile phone launched by Xiaomi overseas. The positioning of the mobile phone is also very clear. It is a mid-range mobile phone priced at HK$2,399. But judging from the materials used, it doesn’t seem to be simple, so Sky immediately went to test it.

Unboxing

The phone package contains a 67W charger, USB Type C cable, and a gray phone protective case.

Body details

This time POCO X6 Pro is launched in three colors, namely black, silver and yellow.

Sky’s most recommended one is yellow. In addition to the more eye-catching appearance, the yellow version is the only one with a plain leather body. The feel and texture are completely different from other colors, and it feels like a level improvement.

The yellow version of the lens module has a marble-like texture and is full of details.

The power button on the side of the fuselage has also been replaced with the same golden color as the back of the fuselage.

Although POCO X6 Pro is a mid-range mobile phone, the materials are not bad at all. It has a 6.67-inch 120Hz refresh rate CrystalRes Flow AMOLED screen, 1.5K (1220 x 2712), and 1800 nits peak brightness. The screen-to-body ratio reaches 94%.

There are stereo speakers, Type-C interface and dual SIM card slots on the bottom of the phone.

HyperOS appears in international version for the first time

Xiaomi’s first overseas mobile phone using HyperOS.

Mid-priced phones worth 2,000 yuan already have 120Hz screen refresh rates.

Benchmarks and performance

In terms of performance, POCO X6 Pro uses the Dimensity 8300-Ultra processor, 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 ROM. The performance positioning is already at the mid-to-high-end level. Using the 4nm process, the performance level should not be inferior to Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. . We scored 1.32 million points through AnTuTu. The Geekbench 6 single-core score is 1099 and the multi-core score is 3831 points. For a price of more than 2,000 yuan to buy such a level of performance, the price/performance ratio is pretty good.

battery life

HONOR X9b has a 5000mAh battery and also provides 67W wired Turbo Charging technology. When we tested the battery through PC Mark, it was enough to run for 13 hours and 55 minutes, which is close to 14 hours to complete the test. For general light users, You should be able to use it for a whole day without any problem. If you use it frequently, you may need to recharge it twice a day.

Shooting actual test

POCO X6 Pro is equipped with a 64-megapixel main lens (f/1.79) + 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2) + 2-megapixel macro lens (f/2.4), and the main lens is rare in this price range with OIS Optically shockproof. As for whether adding OIS can improve the stability of shooting, it needs to be tested to know.

New adjustments have been added to the shooting interface, allowing you to edit the quick transitions of shooting functions yourself.

The shooting capabilities of the main lens do not seem to have improved compared to the previous generation, and some dark details are not well presented at all, which is still at the level of mobile phones in this price range.

The 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens is even worse. Although the color adjustment is good, the clarity of shooting under the scorching sun is not good at all.

The 64-megapixel main lens has acceptable clarity, but the color performance is unsatisfactory.

The shooting performance under indoor light seems to be very good.

The night shooting performance is not bad, and it is in line with the expectations of a mobile phone in this price range. However, as for the role of OIS, I don’t seem to think it exists.

If you want to perform well, you still need to stabilize your hands.

Summarize

As Xiaomi’s first HyperOS system phone launched in the international market, POCO X6 Pro itself has attracted enough attention. It is equipped with Dimensity 8300-Ultra processor, 12GB RAM + 512GB UFS 4.0 ROM, and its performance is completely top-notch among phones in the same price range. . Yellow plain leather back, marble-like lens module decoration. There is really no problem in terms of performance, but the problem occurs in the shooting aspect. According to official data, the main lens is replaced with OIS optical anti-shock, which should provide better shooting stability, but the fact is that the performance of OIS is not outstanding, and it is not even noticeable at all. Sky feels that instead of spending money on OIS, it is better to replace it with a better sensor. But overall, POCO X6 Pro is still very cost-effective, and the price of HK$2,399 is absolutely attractive.
