Xiaomi now sells more phones than Apple

According to a study by Canalys over the number of ships shipped during the second quarter of 2021, Xiaomi overtook Apple in the number of ships shipped, the site writes 9to5mac. The survey also shows that sales of telephones increased by 12 percent as a result of covid vaccinations being rolled out globally.

Samsung remains in first place, while Xiaomi, with a growth in the last quarter of as much as 83 percent, took second place. Samsung increased 15 percent while Apple only increased one percent.

In market share, Samsung accounted for 19 percent of global smartphone sales in the second quarter of 2021, while Xiaomi accounted for 17 percent and Apple 14 percent. Oppo and Vivo each have a 10 percent market share.

According to Canalys, one of the main reasons for Xiaomi’s growth is that their sales increased by 300 percent in Latin America, along with a growth of 150 percent in Africa. These are two giant markets where Xiaomi offers products that often cost half as much as Samsung’s or Apple phones.
