Jakarta, Selular.ID – It took almost three years for the true successor to Mi Mix 3 to arrive. The Xiaomi Mix 4 is Xiaomi’s first device to use an under-display camera and is arguably the biggest jump in the series since the original Mi Mix in 2016.
The big breakthrough here is hidden under the curved 6.67-inch AMOLED display, namely a 20MP selfie camera (1.6m pixels when 4-in-1-pixel binning is applied) leaving the screen devoid of blemishes or cutouts. This solution required a new type of flexible display and a redesigned circuit arrangement to maximize transparency and allow light to reach the selfie camera sensor.
Xiaomi uses a new micro diamond pixel pattern paired with a new algorithm that ensures minimum light refraction. The area above the camera has a density of 400ppi so even the smallest text can still be read perfectly. The entire panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
The Mix 4 features a ceramic back and comes in white, black, and gray. Stereo speakers tuned by Harman/Kardon.
The rear camera setup is composed of a 108MP 1/1.33-inch ISOCELL HMX main sensor with OIS. This is coupled with an 8MP optically stabilized periscope module with 5x optical zoom and a 120mm equivalent focal length. A 13MP ultrawide camera completes all three.
Xiaomi uses the latest Snapdragon 888+ chipset paired with 8/12GB RAM and 128/512GB storage.
Powering all machines is a 4,500mAh battery and features fast 120W wired charging which can charge the battery in just 15 minutes in boost mode (default 21 minutes) as well as 50W wireless charging which takes 28 minutes to fully recharge in boost mode.
Another key feature is the addition of ultra wideband (UWB) which enables precise positioning data and smart device control.
The Mix 4 starts at CNY 4,999 (Rp. 11 million) and goes up to CNY 6,299 (Rp. 14 million) for the 12/512GB model. The first sale in China is scheduled for August 16 while international availability will be detailed at a later date.
