Xiaomi may unveil new proprietary soc on Monday – Tablets and phones – News

I hope this will work fine, with good firmware / driver support. Then maybe they will be able to make a really good stable MiBox, for example. I hear few complaints about the Xiaomi phones, except that there is sometimes a firmware that is unstable. After that, Xiaomi suddenly releases very stable firmware for a mobile phone again. That’s why people I know also choose Xiaomi. Same specifications as a flagship, such as 4 GigaByte Ram at the time for less than half the price of a Galaxy S8 Plus.

Now if they also make the CPU themselves, then firmware and associated software is more under their control, and I’m not sure, but I suspect that in China employees who actually test the software will be less likely to say if something needs to be improved . Not sure.

From Xiaomi I can say that some products are very good, but that they can still learn a lot with certain products. Like let employees say freely as I suspect, when there are bugs. After all, that’s my experience and from others I know, the firmware is sometimes very good, stable, and then suddenly unexpectedly unstable. How is this possible? At the moment Xiaomi is hopefully getting enough feedback from customers outside of China to explain that firmware testing also means that software bugs should actually be spoken freely.

The hardware is actually good to be honest. After all, periods of being very stable are alternated with implicitly explained periods of unstable firmware. If I were a Xioami employee, maybe I would be too honest if there are bugs, and would I lose my job, for example? Because of course the culture is different.

The same thing I hear from India, there it is always Yes, Amen, Good, Works, but reality is, very stable, or very many bugs, and that intermittently, and I suspect that the real actual input comes from customers from all over the world and not from Xiaomi’s own beta test team. In India it is also like this, yes, amen, good.

For the long term, it’s important for Xiaomi to actually get NO sayers if there are bugs, but that’s my personal opinion.
