During a launch event for the Mi 11 series, Xiaomi also unveiled a solution that appeared to be heavily influenced by Apple’s discontinued wireless charging tablet Airpower, reports 9to5Mac.
Apple themselves put down theirs Airpower project two years ago and has never officially said what this was due to. Recurring reports have pointed to a problem with overheating.
According to Xiaomi themselves, they should have started working on their product around the same time as Apple shut down their own and say that they have found a way to make wireless charging as fast as wired. Xiaomi’s charging tablet should be able to be used to charge several different devices simultaneously at up to 20W and visually it is very reminiscent of Apple’s discontinued Airpower, albeit with a slightly sharper design.
The price for Xiaomi’s charging plate must be the equivalent of SEK 780, excluding local supplements. It is unclear whether the charging plate will be released outside China.
