On Sunday, the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi launched its new smartphone, “Xiaomi 14,” enhanced with artificial intelligence and equipped with advanced imaging technologies, in addition to other wearable products.
The company said in a statement: “The new Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone has 4 cameras, and represents an expansion of the Chinese giant’s partnership with the German camera manufacturer Leica.” As for the simpler model, “Xiaomi 14,” it contains 3 cameras.
Modern phones integrate artificial intelligence models into various applications, such as a tool that allows speech to be converted into written speech in real time during conferences, or another application that allows users to describe an image to artificial intelligence to determine its location in the phone’s photo gallery.
Technology and telecommunications companies are rolling out new products and features ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, slated to kick off on Monday, in the hope that the hype generated by artificial intelligence will boost business prospects. However, many experts warn that generative AI raises legal or ethical concerns.
Last year, Xiaomi ranked third in the world in terms of smartphone market share, accounting for 12.5% of shipments globally.
Apple came in first place with a market share of 20.1%, followed by Samsung with a market share of 19.4%, according to IDC figures.
On Sunday, the company also unveiled new wearable products, including smart watches that Xiaomi says are suitable for sports activities and monitoring health status.
