Through 16 allegorical designs to the moments, characters and stories that have made the Barranquilla Carnival the main event of its kind in the country, Xiaomi joins this celebration and shares it with Colombians.
To achieve this, it developed a collaboration with the Colombian artists ‘Ceroker’ and ‘Matiba’, as well as with the Mi Fans in Colombia, who made a conceptual and creative approach through which they achieved the realization of 16 designs that can be downloaded on the cell phone as wallpapers, and from which Colombians can connect with the event.
“In order to demonstrate our passion for local culture, and continue to bring more Colombians closer to the brand, we wanted to pay a special tribute to the largest celebration in the country, through a special series of allusive wallpapers (wallpapers) to the Barranquilla Carnival, to share with our users the fun and joy of this popular festival ”, stated Claudia Valderrama, Mi Community Manager of Xiaomi Colombia. “This also reinforces our commitment to the country, since for the first time, Xiaomi will design exclusive wallpapers about a local celebration, so we are very happy and proud that Colombia and the Barranquilla Carnival have been selected so that our fans worldwide can enjoy them ”, added Claudia.
The images will be available for download through the MIUI Themes application that is incorporated in Xiaomi phones, and the creative process behind some of these creations can be seen through Xiaomi Colombia’s Instagram. Regarding their usability, they are optimized for smartphones with screens of all kinds, and will allow them to be in tune with this important cultural moment in the country, which will be held between February 13 and 16, 2021 for the first time online.
In turn, these illustrations will be shared by the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla -in alignment with the Secretariat of Culture of the City-, through their social networks, from where the invitation will be extended so that people can know and appropriate the initiative.
Illustrators
After an arduous search, two Colombian illustrators were chosen. In the first place is Alejandra Matiz, better known as ‘Matiba’, illustrator and graphic designer who has worked in illustration of children’s books and audiovisual projects in Colombia, the United States, Puerto Rico and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to participating artistically in events in hotels and festivals. His style is full of textures, color and blends of analog techniques with digital art.
In turn, there is Camilo Gordillo, known as ‘Ceroker’. Colombian illustrator and urban artist who began painting at age 14. He has had a great journey through graffiti, typography and collaborator for logo design and corporate images. He created the street art collective A Tres Manos Estudio, and is recognized as an outstanding representative of Colombian graffiti, where he stands out for his use of color, characters and stories.
Likewise, the members of “Mi Community” also joined this celebration and within the wallpaper will be present 4 designs made by the Mi Fans.
