Xiaomi imagines headphones to be stored directly in the smartphone

Xiaomi has filed a new patent with a very interesting concept. The manufacturer indeed imagines wireless headphones to store directly in the body of the smartphone. The Dutch site LetsGoDigital offers a concept that concretely presents the idea to us.

Xiaomi is a company that is bubbling with ideas and shows them in the many patents it files. Today’s one is interesting. It consists of storing wireless headphones directly in the body of a smartphone. These objects, such as Apple AirPods or futurs Buds from Samsung, are small. To avoid losing them, you have to store them in a dedicated box, which is not large either. Xiaomi had the idea to merge this box with a smartphone. LetsGoDigital, which spotted the patent filed on July 24 in the Netherlands, decided to put it into practice in 3D renderings. The idea sounds bold and clever, but also suggests some concessions at the terminal level.

The idea would be to store your headphones in the smartphone the same way a stylus is stored in a Galaxy Note. A small hole allows them to wedge their cylindrical rod when not in use. The head of the headphones would swivel for easy placement. This eliminates the need to take the case out when you want to store them.

However, there are several flaws to this idea. The first is that the smartphone could not be certified IP68. In addition, there might be hygiene concerns when moving these headphones from your ear to your smartphone and vice versa. Last point, the terminal should have a certain thickness to accommodate the objects.

Xiaomi, the idea factory

LetsGoDigital also used data from other Xiaomi patents to create its concept, such as the fact that the front camera is placed directly under the screen, which results in the absence of a notch on the front.

This is only a patent and such a product may not reach the market. However, he still indicates that Xiaomi is considering this lead for one of its future terminals. Other interesting ideas have been registered by the brand, including one offering a rotating photo sensor.

Xiaomi can also put its original concepts into action, as is the case with the Mi Mix Alpha, prototype smartphone equipped with a screen covering both sides.
