Xiaomi executives believe they are making smartphones for losers

Such an image mishap does not happen often. Xiaomi called its customers an unrefined term diaosi. The fact that fans of the brand sometimes describe themselves that way does not change much.

Xiaomi is one of the leaders in the mobile phone market. It owes its very high position to high efficiency in optimizing the technological process of selling smartphones – from production to delivery to the consumer. Thanks to this, it is able to sell devices in bulk and with a very low margin – and therefore offer very interesting equipment at very attractive prices.

This approach has provided Xiaomi with a multitude of fans who like to half-jokingly laugh at enthusiasts of incomparably more expensive devices from manufacturers such as Samsung or Apple. Some of the representatives of the brand enthusiasts also do not lack distance to themselves – describing themselves with delight as bulbs and proudly peeling meme Sundayus on his banner.

Self-mockery is another thing, insulting by others is another. Representative Xiaomi used a contemptuous term on fans of the brand.

Weng Lei, one of the company’s directors, publicly described them as diaosi. In literal translation, the word means it pubic hair, however, is also used to refer to it suckers and, contemptuously, the poor. Something like our native Cebulaki, although with a slightly stronger overtone. Some Xiaomi fans jokingly describe themselves with this word – however, the community agrees that Ms. Lei definitely exaggerated.

In social media, Xiaomi is criticized by numerous fans and influencers and it is not surprising that Lei’s director no longer works in the company – she resigned, which was probably convinced by other members of the company’s management.
