Chinese giant Xiaomi is one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. The number of smartphones produced under the name Xiaomi has grown to such an extent that in China the Redmi and Poco brands have decided to transform into subsidiaries. Now Xiaomi has taken another step to help improve brand perception.
The next step is to remove the Mi from the phone name. The Mi series smartphones were considered premium within the brand, and it was the two letters that separated the flagship models from the mid-range phones, which were named Redmi. However, after the spin-off of Redmi and Poco, there is no reason to label the phones with the Mi brand, as Xiaomi does not produce any other series of smartphones under its own name.
From now on, all phones of the Chinese giant will be named simply Xiaomi, of course supplemented by a number or other specification. Although this change will not solve the appalling terminology of Xiaomi, it is definitely a step in the right direction.
