The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi wants to build its European headquarters in the state capital. The Düsseldorf economic development agency has now confirmed this. According to the plans, the existing German headquarters in the Lörick district will be expanded. In the long term, several hundred additional employees could therefore be employed in Düsseldorf.
Xiaomi grew up selling cheaper but technically sophisticated smartphones on the Internet and is now in third place in the Smartphone-Market after Samsung and Apple.
Xiaomi’s business in Germany is growing
About every tenth Smartphone in Germany, which was sold in the fourth quarter of 2020, came from Xiaomi, according to analysts’ figures Canalys occupy. The company now also sells other electrical appliances such as televisions and vacuum cleaner robots.
The Düsseldorf location is very popular with Chinese companies
Around 1,100 companies from China have now settled in North Rhine-Westphalia, 610 of them in the state capital alone. The Western European headquarters of Huawei, a rival of Xiaomi, is also located in Düsseldorf.
