Xiaomi ceases Android 10 update for Mi A3 due to software problems – Tablets and phones – News

Xiaomi has stopped the further release of the Android 10 update for its Mi A3 phones, because ‘various problems’ have come to light. What exactly these problems are, Xiaomi does not state. Among other things, users complain about a fingerprint scanner not working anymore.

Since Saturday, users have been notified that they could install an update that would update their Mi A3 to Android 10. Quite soon after the update, users complained about problems. PiunikaWeb lists these complaints. The biggest problem is a fingerprint scanner that is no longer working.

When the phone is restarted, users would see the fingerprint icon. However, this means that they cannot unlock their phone, because after every restart an unlocking with the PIN code is required first. After entering the pin code, the fingerprint icon would disappear again. The fingerprint scanner would still work for apps.

Users also complain about one laggy interface, a dark mode that is not completely black, micro-sd cards that are not recognized and more. A user posts on Twitter a conversation with Xiaomi’s customer service, in which the company acknowledges that there are several problems with the update. That is why the company has decided to discontinue the further release of the update. Once Xiaomi has solved the problems, it will again offer the update to customers. Tweakers has asked Xiaomi about the update issues.
