Xiaomi Boss Moves to TikTok

KOMPAS.com – Parent company TikTok, ByteDance, recruiting one of the higher-ups Xiaomi. He is Shou Zi Chew, who serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from August 2015 to April 2020.

Chew is also responsible for heading Xiaomi’s international business from November 2019 to early 2021. Through his personal Twitter account, Chew announced his retirement from Xiaomi.

“Today I announced that I will be leaving Xiaomi. I will join ByteDance as CFO in my hometown, Singapore.

Chew also uploaded a letter announcing his resignation. In the letter, Chew said that his role at Xiaomi would be replaced by William Lu.

“My friend and colleague William Lu, an industry veteran with many years of international experience, will assume my responsibility to head up Xiaomi’s international business,” Chew wrote.

Chew said he firmly believed that Xiaomi’s international business would continue to do well under Lu’s command. Summarized KompasTekno from The Wall Street Journal, Saturday (27/3/2021), Chew will start his office at ByteDance on March 29.

Prior to joining Xiaomi, Chew, who graduated from the Harvard Business School master’s degree, worked at the investment firm DST Investment Management and the investment bank unit at Goldman Sachs Group Inc.
