Xiaomi 14 Ultra: A Closer Look at Xiaomi’s Newest Flagship Smartphone

Xiaomi Launches New Flagship Smartphone

Xiaomi recently unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, at the Mobile World Congress. Packed with top-tier features and cutting-edge technology, this smartphone is set to make waves in the European market.

Impressive Specifications

Boasting a 120 Hz, 3200×1440 OLED screen, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers exceptional performance. It is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, and its proprietary 90W wired “HyperCharge” ensures rapid charging with a full battery charge achieved in just 33 minutes. Additionally, a wireless 80W version is available, charging the phone in 46 minutes.

Curved Display

Xiaomi has taken pride in designing a smartphone with curved edges on all four sides of the screen, creating a seamless and elegant curved form. However, curved displays have faced criticism due to the distortions they cause, and manufacturers have slowly started abandoning this design. Moreover, the all-glass design of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra raises concerns about its vulnerability to drops and damage.

Camera Focus and Professional Camera Kit

Xiaomi’s focus on photography is evident through its “Professional Camera Kit” accessory. This kit includes a case with a mounting ring, allowing users to attach lens covers or camera filters. A camera grip attachment, equipped with a 1500 mAh battery and physical camera controls, enhances the smartphone’s camera capabilities. However, despite its camera theatrics, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra still features a regular smartphone-sized camera lens.

Six-Blade Variable Aperture

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a six-blade mechanical iris in its main lens, mimicking traditional cameras. The variable aperture allows users to adjust the f-stop, resulting in customizable depth of field and bokeh effects. However, given the small size of smartphone lenses, the impact of the six-blade aperture on image quality is limited.

Impressive Hardware

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is equipped with commendable camera hardware. The main sensor is a 1-inch, 50MP Sony LYT-900, offering exceptional image quality. In combination with the three other 50MP Sony IMX858 sensors, the smartphone delivers wide-angle, telephoto, and 5x telephoto capabilities.

Preorders for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are already open, and the smartphone is set to be shipped on March 15. With its advanced features and impressive camera technology, Xiaomi is setting a new benchmark in the smartphone market.
