TIME.CO, Jakarta – After experiencing a delay in the launch date, Xiaomi officially introduces its new flagship series, Xiaomi 13 and 13 professionals. Both phones use Qualcomm’s latest chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and are built on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. Meanwhile, the release is still for the Chinese market.
Xiaomi 13Pro
Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 6.73-inch display with 120Hz variable refresh rate, LTPO panel, 1440 x 3200px resolution, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG and 1920Hz DC dimming for aggressive PWM. The display is said to have an ambient color temperature sensor that allows it to adjust color temperature on the fly.
The new 13 Pro’s display can illuminate an entire surface at 1,200 nits, while peak brightness when playing HDR video can go up to 1,900 nits.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is paired with LPDDR5X memory and next-generation UFS 4.0 storage. Variation of RAM and internal storage capacities of 8GB/128GB and 12GB/512GB.
For cameras, Xiaomi 13 Pro offers three 50MP cameras on the back. The main camera uses a 1-inch Sony IMX989, 1.6μm sensor with a Leica lens, f/1.9 aperture and Hyper OIS.
In addition, there is a 50MP telephoto lens with a 3x zoom range and a Leica Floating Lens element, f/2.0 aperture. This lens has a close focusing distance of just 10cm. So an Ultrawide camera with a good 14mm f/2.2 aperture with macro and AF support. For selfies, you get a 32MP camera.
Video capabilities on the back are 8K@24fps (HDR), 4K@24/30/60fps (HDR10+), 1080p@30/120/240/960fps, 1080p@1920fps, gyro-EIS, while on the front it is 1080p@30fps .
The battery capacity is 4,820mAh and it is paired with Xiaomi’s Surge G1 chip which enables secure 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. There is also 10W reverse wireless charging.
Other features include Dolby Atmos tuned stereo speakers, IR blaster, and IP68 dust and water protection. The proposed color variants are White, Black, Green and a kind of Blue. The camera island is now a square with oval corners.

The screen of the Xiaomi 13 measures 6.36 inches diagonally with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 px, refresh rate of 120Hz, support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, and is assisted by an ambient color temperature sensor. For a maximum and peak brightness of 1200 and 1900 nits respectively, just like the Pro variant.
On the back, you also get a Leica touch on all cameras. Main camera 50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm, 1/1.56″, 1.0µm and Hyper OIS. 10 MP telephoto with OIS with Leica lens, f/2.0 aperture and native 3x zoom Ultrawide. Finally, 12 MP ultrawide with aperture f/ 2.2 As for selfies 32 MP.
Rear video capabilities are 8K@24fps (HDR), 4K@24/30/60fps (HDR10+), 1080p@30/120/240/960fps, 1080p@1920fps, gyro-EIS and front 1080p@30fps.
The built-in battery capacity is 4,500mAh with 67W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Other Xiaomi 13 features include Dolby Atmos stereo speakers with Dolby Head Tracking, IR blaster, and IP68 water and dust certification.
Unlike the Pro, the vanilla version uses standard glass on the back and is available in black, light green, light blue, gray and white. Other flashy colors are also available: red, yellow, green and blue, but only the Light Blue option is made of leather, just like the Pro.
Price and availability
Both phones will be available to order in China with shipments starting December 14, 2022. The Xiaomi 13 with the 8/128GB variant costs CNY 3,999 (USD 575), while the larger 12/512GB variant costs 4,999 (USD 720). The mid-range 8/256GB and 12/256GB drives cost CNY 4,299 and CNY 4,599, respectively.
Meanwhile, the cheapest 8/128GB version of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is 4,999 (US$720). Another variant, 12/512GB, is priced at CNY 6,299 (US$900). International availability and pricing will be announced later.
